On Monday October 19th, 2009 The Central Square Business Association (CSBA), with sponsorship by Cambridge Trust Company and Novartis, joined friends, colleagues and city officials to honor Carl Barron for his life long commitment to Central Square and the city of Cambridge.
Kelly Thompson Clark, from the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce, Nancy O’Brien Cambridge YMCA and Anya Petroff , MIT, with Ryan O’Heir, of Le Meridien coordinated the event together in the spirit of the Central Square annual Unity dinner that Mr. Barron himself had initiated as a way of bringing people in the community together.
The impressive list of attendees including, Commissioners, Mayors, Managers, Councilors, Fire Chiefs and Police Chiefs joined 150 in all, and came together in unity, the spirit of what Carl Barron believes in and the essential lesson he wants us all to learn.
After an invocation by long standing friend Rabbi Earl Grollman, emphasizing the spirit of unity, Mr. Barron along with a large group of friends listened to Deputy City Manager Richard Rossi of the city, Sister Mary Pizzotti of Sancta Maria Nursing Facility and Jeanette Clough, President and CEO of the Mount Auburn Hospital share stories, memories and appreciation of Mr. Barron.
