The Dance Complex is proud to present Introspectives, a Shared Choreographers’ Concert, at 8 p.m. on Fri and Sat, October 9 & 10, 2009. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased at the door or reserved in advance by calling the Dance Complex at (617) 547-9363. Reservations are suggested.

Introspectives is a moving and thought-provoking production that includes a broad range of dance styles, from contemporary and Chinese-influenced modern to upbeat jazz. The pieces have taken their inspiration from a wide range of sources, including Walt Whitman’s Leaves of Grass, domestic violence, and people watching on an urban street. Choreographers include Audra Carabetta, Sandra Shih Parks, and Judith Wombwell.

The Shared Choreographers’ Concert brings together choreographers and dancers from divergent backgrounds and allows them to showcase their scope of talents and ideas. Experienced dance professionals have mentored participating choreographers by providing creative and constructive feedback. After viewing the performance, the audience, too, will become involved in the learning process by participating in a Q&A session with the choreographers and dancers.

We gratefully acknowledge the mentors for this concert, Shawn Mahoney and Brian Fegenbaum, as well as SCC Overseer and Dance Complex President Rozann Krauss.

This program is funded by the Cambridge Arts Council.
